Good grades are important. You know what’s even more important? Studying, so you can achieve good grades.Taylor, author of Tay’s Gen Z Diary
If you’re here, you’re probably here to figure out how to study better. If you’re not, you’re here because you like supporting me. Either way, you’re here. You’ve found me, so congratulations. And, yeah, Imma give you the tea.
How to study, study, study??
Chewing gum is good for studying, because it helps you focus. When you’re chewing, you’re kind of keeping yourself awake. However, we all know that the taste of gum doesn’t last long. Once the taste is gone, you won’t really want it anymore. So, I advise using gum for the harder things that you have to study.
It’s wayyy harder than it sounds. Focusing while studying is so hard, because it’s like everytime you try to, you can focus on everything else. You should be studying, and instead you’re thinking about organizing your closet. For focusing, I recommend being in a quiet place and only having your notes in front of you. Focusing can be easier for some people than others. I suggest just staring at your paper until you start reading it.
There are apps to help you study. They give you tips for processing information and some of them help you manage your time, so you’ll actually give around 30 minutes to study.
This seems kind of obvious, but it’s not. If you’re like me, you don’t eat as much as you used to. So, eat a light snack (maybe a granola bar) before you study and eat some fruit while you study. Also keep some water with you, so you can stay hydrated.
There are multiple websites that have practice quizzes or flashcards, like Quizlet. Honestly, Quizlet is, like, a high schooler’s best friend. You can also use Kahoot or Quizizz for practice quizzes. I’m sure there are other websites that have practice quizzes or helpful guides or flashcards, but those are the best ones, to me.
Make your Notes Cute
You can write your notes in different pen colors or highlight the sections in different colors. You can draw little pictures to help you visualize it better. Having really nice handwriting when writing your notes will help when you’re rereading them, because you’ll be able to read them more easily. Also, rewriting them will help you retain the information.
Organizing the things you have to study by class would help. Let’s say you have a test for Calculus the next morning, you should study for that class last, so it’s more in your head and you’ll hopefully get a better grade since the material is fresh in your head.
Listen to Music
This works really good for me, but only if I listen to the music really low. Like high enough for me to hear, but not high enough for me to wanna get up and start dancing. I don’t know, but music helps me focus more.
Sleeping for 20 minutes before you study will really help you, because you’ll be refreshed while studying. Also, getting a good night’s sleep (7, 8, or 9) hours will help you learn more during your classes.
That’s all I have for this post! I’ll be doing a post about Confidence Do’s&Don’t’s next, and plentyyy more!
